Gallant is in the process of unveiling his second body of work, This Does Not Fit, which transforms his own experience of what it means to 'fit' or not into today’s society into blissfully genre-free soundscapes. The album is also an opportunity for the Los Angeles artist to work with his favourite creatives, which in the case of new single ‘TOOGOODTOBETRUE’, it’s the acclaimed multi-talent Sufjan Stevens and Rebecca Sugar (creator of Cartoon Network’s ‘Steven Universe’.) The luscious track is also accompanied by a red-and-blue soaked visual, probably more aptly described as a moving photograph, directed by Sasha Samsonova. ‘TOOGOODTOBETRUE’ shows the beauty of collaboration, the single itself possessing the warm, layered strings and breathy vocals akin to Sufjan Stevens, the expansive instrumentation and nurturing voice of Rebecca Sugar, and R&B electronic beats and soulful reminiscences that are unmistakably Gallant.
